The appearance of the legendary Cheops pyramid is known far beyond Egypt. It is considered almost the main attraction of this country. Each self-respecting tourist, deciding to visit Egypt, dreams of seeing with his own eyes the only Wonder of the World that has survived to this day.
Despite the fact that the pyramid has been subjected to various studies many times, to this day this building is fraught with many secrets and mysteries, which is the reason for fierce disputes and discussions in the scientific community.
To this day, it is not known for certain how exactly the ancient Egyptians, who did not have the modern capabilities of science and technology, were able to erect a huge structure that lasted several thousand years.
The most interesting facts about the Cheops pyramid will be discussed in this material.
10. Atypical pyramid design
Unlike their neighbors, the Chefren pyramid and the Mycerino pyramid, in the pyramid of Cheops there is not one, but three burial chambers. In addition, there are a large number of corridors and other chambers.
The interior of the pyramid is quite ramified. Many roads, it would seem, lead to nothing, that is, they suddenly face a wall. Due to the sheer size and massive construction of the pyramid, well-known corridors may conceal additional tunnels that have not yet been discovered.
It is believed that secret pyramid tunnels were created because architects changed their plans during construction. Unnecessary tunnels were simply built from blocks. Other secret tunnels were intentionally hidden, as they lead to treasures or even to the resting place of the pharaoh.
9. Huge isothermal chamber
With infinite ingenuity and technical sophistication, the ancient Egyptian engineers came up with mechanisms that isolate whole parts of the pyramid so that an inexperienced visitor in many places did not even suspect the presence of these cameras.
These security measures were designed to protect the tranquility of the pharaoh and his wealth for millennia. The so-called ventilation shafts of the Cheops Pyramid still give researchers food for thought. They are so narrow that you can only enter the camera with the help of robots.
In the summer of 2002, researchers with such a machine broke a barrier in one of the four air shafts. The disappointment of scientists from what they saw was enormous: behind a broken wall, the robot came across a new wall.
8.
Another interesting fact is that in some parts of this tomb of the ancient Egyptian rulers you can see a lot of mathematical symbols and expression, including the famous number "pi".
In addition, the parameters of the royal chamber, arranged in "sacred" triangles, have a very specific ratio - 3: 4: 5.
At the same time, there is another mysterious mystery for historians: one of the channels of the Cheops pyramid is located vertically along the middle line of the tomb. According to some scholars, such a feature once again confirms the fact of communication of the ancient Egyptians with aliens.
7. The history of the crypt of the pharaoh
It is believed that the pyramids in ancient Egypt were created ten centuries ago. A number of researchers claim that they are about 3000 years old. In the same time, there is no real evidence to answer the question of when exactly was this pyramid built.
6. Free people participated in the construction, not just slaves
It is known that about 100 thousand people were involved in the construction of the Cheops pyramid, among which were not only slaves, but also free Egyptians hired for a fee.
In the first ten years of construction, only the road was built along which huge blocks of stone were delivered to the site. It is difficult to believe that this monumental structure was erected by the hands of people without the use of special equipment available only to modern people.
5. Not only the tomb, but also the calendar?
In the scientific community, there is a version that the pyramid is not only the tomb of the ancient Egyptian ruler, but also a very accurate calendar.
Many scholars agree that the Cheops pyramid, whose shape is known to every tourist who has visited Egypt at least once, served as a compass, and with such a degree of certainty that it can be used to test modern instruments.
4. Concealed ventilation shafts
Only in the Cheops Pyramid were ventilation shafts found. From the room of the king and queen come two small moves measuring 20 by 20 centimeters. All of them are horizontal at first and then rise.
They were hidden under the panels of the walls of the cell and they were discovered only in 1872. They are considered especially mysterious, since they cannot be completely studied even using the most modern technologies.
3. Consists of more than 2.2 million stone blocks
During the construction of the Cheops Pyramid, more than two million massive stone blocks were spent. Each of these structural parts of the building had a mass of about two and a half tons. There are a total of 210 rows in this pyramid.
The entrance inside is located in the northern part - it consists of arched plates. Currently, one can get there not through an entrance blocked by a granite plug, but through a breakthrough. The thing is, Khalif Jafar al-Mamun, who wanted to plunder the tomb of the pharaoh, made this hole in 820, but instead of treasures he found there only a thick layer of dust.
2. Mysterious blocking stone
In 1993, the Egyptian government asked the German engineer Rudolf Gantenbrink to continue the study of the corridors of the pyramid. It was decided to direct fresh air with fans through the ventilation shafts. This was planned to be implemented at the entrances to the royal chamber.
However, the mines in the Royal Chamber seemed closed. The research robot was able to penetrate the nordshacht just a few meters, until it was blocked by metal rods. They were not part of the safety system of the pyramid builders, but were simply jammed support pillars left by the former explorer.
The southern shaft passed only the first 64 meters, until the camera robot came across a stone block. In 2002, a new robot broke the lock and opened a new blocking stone with two copper handles.
Since then, the recently discovered blocking stone has inspired the imagination of archaeologists around the world: what do two copper handles mean? Are these just pens that were attached for transportation? Or are they the so-called “mouth openers” who, in the Egyptian funeral rite, served as peculiar holders of the pharaoh’s lips so that he could breathe in another world and freely ascend to heaven?
1. The start date of the construction of the pyramid - the national holiday of Egypt
It is no secret that the Egyptians honor their history and protect unique artifacts and architectural monuments. This is associated not only with a careful attitude to their culture, but also simply with an interest in economic stability, because most of the country's GDP depends on the tourist flow. That is why, here they value their sights so much.
In modern Egypt, the day of the beginning of the construction of its main symbol is officially recognized as a national holiday (August 23, 2480 BC). This date was determined using the astronomical method of the Englishwoman Kate Spence.
However, in modern Egyptology there are other theories regarding the age of the famous pyramid. For example, the Arab historian Ibrahim Wasuf Shah suggests that the Cheops pyramid dates back at least 73,000 years. He made a similar conclusion based on the study of ancient records on the walls of the building.
Outside the scientific community, the hypothesis is quite popular that the ancient Egyptians regularly came into contact with alien civilizations that helped them build the pyramids.
