Deciding to make a list of 10 games similar to The Witcher 3 With an open world on Android and PC, we realized that it was almost impossible. This RPG is so original that there is nothing to compare it with. The Slavic flavor, the gorgeous book basis authored by Andrzej Sapkowski and the tremendous work done by CD Projekt Red - all this brought the game to a beyond level. Therefore, our today's selection is rather arbitrary: it contains excellent representatives of the genre, but you should not compare them with The Witcher.
10. Risen 3: Titan Lords
Risen 3: Titan Lords - A role-playing game developed by the Piranha Bytes studio (the same guys who made "Gothic") and published by Deep Silver. This is a continuation of Risen 2: Dark Waters and the third part in the Risen series.
The player is in the role of the new “Nameless”, replacing the main character from the previous two games. The protagonist was never mentioned before the third game, but it turned out that he is the brother of the repeating NPC Patty and the son of the late pirate captain Gregorius Emanuel or Steel Beard.
Together with his sister, he goes for hidden treasures, but in a mysterious cave he loses his soul and dies. 3 weeks after the funeral, the shaman revives him, and now the hero will do everything to return his soul.
The project is more similar to Gothik than the previous ones, and many locations were moved from Risen 2, but significantly reworked.
9. Middle-earth: Shadow of War
Open world role-playing video game Middle-earth: Shadow of Warcreated by Monolith Productions is based on an even more iconic than The Witcher universe. Another difference is that in addition to the Tolkien bookstore, developers could rely on Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.
This is a continuation of the Shadow of Mordor 2014, in which to play again for the ranger Talion. Together with the spirit of the elf Celebrimbor (the creator of the omnipotence ring), he will make a new powerful ring with which he will assemble an army of orcs and goblins to challenge Sauron.
8. Monster Hunter: World
RPG development and publication Monster hunter: world Capcom was involved, as was the previous part of the series. It was released worldwide for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January 2018, and reached Windows in August.
In the game, you take on the role of the Hunter, who is entrusted with tracking and either killing or catching monsters in the area. If successful, the player receives a reward in the form of loot, consisting of parts of the monster and other elements that are used to make weapons and armor.
The main gameplay is that you need to create equipment in order to hunt for more complex monsters, which, in turn, give details that lead to more powerful equipment. Players can hunt alone or in groups of up to four in online multiplayer mode.
7. Fable: The Lost Chapters
Fable, released in 2004, laid the foundation for a whole trilogy of excellent, and most importantly - original RPGs (The lost chapters - extended edition, released a year later). The music for the game was written by Russell Shaw, although Danny Elfman became the author of the opening theme.
The release of the game was expected partly due to the excitement created around it by Lionhead co-founder (Fable developers) Peter Molyneux - not the last person in the industry. Initially, the RPG was in development for Dreamcast, but on this platform did not have time to exit and was ported to the Xbox.
At the center of the story is a hero whose behavior and lifestyle are of great importance. If you always fight with a bow, then the character will be slim as an elf, and if you choose a heavy ax, then muscles will grow. Eat a lot - you will be fat, you offend the innocent - they will fear and hate you. Now you can’t surprise anyone with such a chip, but 15 years ago it was a big step forward for the genre.
6. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
IN Kingdoms of amalur: reckoning there are five separate regions with a bunch of quests, four races and three classes with 22 abilities for each. The races are Almain (humans), Dokkalfar (dark elves), Ljosalfar (light elves) and Varani (nomads).
The player starts without a class, but then can choose one of those available to his taste: “Power”, “Grace” and “Magic”. They correspond to the classes of fighter, robber and mage, respectively.
5. Nioh
The plot takes place in the fiction version of the 1600th year. He talks about the travels of William, an Irish sailor who pursues the warlock Edward Kelly in the final battles of the Sengoku period during the Tokugawa Ieyasu attempted to unify Japan.
Gameplay revolves around battles with monsters that have flooded the world. The combat is tied to the endurance or control of the Ki energies, and the possession of the sword: they need to be wielded in different ways, depending on the enemy.
4. Dragon Age: Inquisition
Dragon Age: Inquisition considered the best game in the series, although the previous two parts were quite worthy. We play a hero known as the Inquisitor, and we need to settle civil unrest on the Thedas continent and close the mysterious rift in the sky that rains the world of dangerous demons.
The Inquisitor is considered to be chosen, since there is a mark on his hand that can close cracks between worlds. Of course, we will not do this alone, but in the company of satellites, meeting along the journey both new and already familiar characters.
3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The output of the fifth part of the "Ancient Scrolls" under the heading The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim by definition it was supposed to be a hit, but in reality everything turned out to be even cooler. This game set new standards in the RPG genre and for 2011 it became about the same as the Witcher 3 years later, that is, a sensation.
The story that you write yourself: you can just go along the story and become a dragon fighter, fulfilling the mission, or you can “score” and just travel the world, join guilds and search dungeons and castles. The picture in the game even now looks pretty, and if you have a powerful PC, you can install graphic mods and make it super-realistic.
2. Assassin’s Creed Origins
Assassin’s Creed Origins became the tenth game in the series and its release was awaited with caution: the franchise turned into a conveyor and did not always please. Nevertheless, this project at Ubisoft turned out perfectly.
The action takes place in Ancient Egypt at the end of the Ptolemaic period (49–47 BC) and tells the story of a fictional story of the real world.
The protagonist is a mejai named Bayek, who explores the origins of a centuries-old conflict between the Brotherhood of Assassins fighting for peace, promoting freedom, and the Order of the Ancients - the forerunners of the Templar Order - who desire peace through totalitarianism.
1. Dark Souls
Dark souls - This is a third-person role-playing game. The basic mechanics are research. The game encourages caution and makes you learn from past mistakes or find alternative paths, since here every battle is a real test.
It was with her that the revival of hardcore gameplay in RPGs began, for which she should say a big thank you, although she takes a lot of nerves and time.
