The Cinnabon brand appeared on December 4, 1985 at the Seattle SeaTac mall. In just a few relatively short decades, it has expanded to over 50 countries around the world, and added a few more things to its product line. Now these buns are sold everywhere, but you always want to cook it yourself, right?
Today we will tell you the 10 best recipes for Cinnabon buns, and we will focus not only on classic cinnamon buns, but also with raisins, poppy seeds and other “goodies”. In addition to step-by-step cooking and inspiring photos, we will tell interesting details from the history of this delicacy.
10. With poppy seeds and sugar
To make 12 buns, we need:
Dough: 250 ml of warm milk, 1 egg (we will beat it), 65 g of melted butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence, 2 teaspoons of dried yeast, 3 tablespoons of sugar, 500 g of flour, 3 tablespoons of warm water and a pinch of salt.
Filling: 120 g of brown (this is important) sugar, 30 g of butter, 50 ml of good rum (not really elite at all) and 50 g of poppy seeds. Also, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon will not be superfluous.
Fill: 180 g of cheese cream (cream cheese made from cream cheese, powdered sugar and heavy cream whipped in a mixer), 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice, 3 tablespoons of cream (20% will be enough), 130 g of powdered sugar (not sugar will do) and 2 tablespoons of rum liquor.
The dough is most conveniently prepared in a bread machine, but it can also be done manually: it should turn out like a pizza. After cooking, leave for 20 minutes, let it rise, but for now let's get to the filling.
Mix the butter with sugar and cinnamon, add poppy. The poppy is prepared in advance: pour boiling water for 5 minutes, drain the water, pour the rum and leave for 2-3 hours.
Roll out the dough, which has already come, into a rectangle 6-8 mm thick. Spread the filling evenly, leaving a couple of centimeters on one side. We roll a tight roll and cut into slices ~ 4 cm wide. We spread it on a baking sheet (not end-to-end) and leave it for 20 minutes, after which the raised buns are sent to the oven 190 ° for 25 minutes.
At this time, prepare the fill by mixing cheese cream with cream, lemon juice and powdered sugar. Beat in a mixer, add liquor - and you're done! The consistency should be like that of liquid sour cream.
We take out the finished buns from the oven, immediately pour them cream and transfer to a dish. Decorate with grated chocolate if desired and enjoy!
There are 9 more recipes with other fillings ahead and we will not repeat the recipe for the test, pouring and the cooking process 9 more times, since they are identical to this. We will only talk about the fillings, and the bonus is interesting facts.
9. With jam
We do the same thing as for buns with poppy seeds, but instead of poppy seed filling, we smear the dough jam. Anyone who likes or has one. The taste in any case will turn out amazing.
Interesting fact: according to Cinnabon itself, one classic bun contains a whopping 880 calories and 37 grams of fat. This is a lot of calories for one person ... but how delicious!
8. With coconut
To prepare this filling you need to mix 60-100 g coconut flakes with a glass of sugar (or half if the chips are not 100 g) and 50 g of butter, then evenly apply the resulting creamy coconut paste to the rolled dough.
Interesting fact: The company says Thanksgiving is one of the busiest times of the year in Cinnabon in terms of trade. About 8,300 cinnamon rolls are sold every hour during Thanksgiving. This means that on a holiday weekend they buy 7 304 000 calories every hour!
7. With raisins
Raisins for this filling (to taste, but half a glass should be enough), pre-soak for a couple of minutes in boiling water. You will also need 50 g of butter (melt it) and 120 g of brown sugar. Lubricate the dough with butter, sprinkle with sugar and spread raisins.
Interesting fact: in 2013, Cinnabon sold about 100 million rolls per year (via Bloomberg). Fast forward to 2017, and Bon Appetit says that number has skyrocketed to a billion rolls a year. This is a lot of fat and calories (and a lot of delicious cinnamon rolls).
6. With ginger
Here, a tablespoon of cocoa, 2 tablespoons acts as a filling ginger and 150 g of brown sugar. They need to sprinkle the dough, previously greased with butter.
Interesting fact: no smell is better or tastier than pastries, and Cinnabon takes advantage of this. The company opens its stores at airports and shopping centers, and this smell drifts along the corridors, making their stomachs rumble long before people get into the store.
5. With nuts and caramel
Fry one teaspoon of flour in a pan until it turns yellow. Add 20 g of butter and 1 cup of sugar, make caramel. When everything is ready - remove from heat and pour 130 ml of 10% cream, stir. With this caramel we pour the finished buns, after cream filling. Sprinkle with nuts on top, any will do.
Interesting fact: such buns are called Pecanbon since the original recipe uses pecans, which we can not get.
4. With condensed milk
The cooking process is similar to buns with jam, but instead we use boiled condensed milk. How many? Yes, at least the whole jar, but it’s not worth zealous, as it will flow out.
Interesting fact: while Cinnabon had nothing to do with the original Breaking Bad series, they officially collaborated with Better Call Saul, making an original publicity move.
3. With chocolate
In this recipe chocolate can be used in three ways: pat it on top, add it inside or melt and pour them rolls. However, no one forbids doing everything at once.
Interesting fact: Not all of Cinnabon’s marketing steps were successful: in 2016, they received a tremendous amount of hate on social networks after the publication of their dedication to Carrie Fisher.
After Fisher passed away, they tweeted a photo of Princess Leia with cinnamon rolls replacing her iconic hairstyle. The inscription read: "RIP Carrie Fisher, you will always have the best buns in the galaxy. ”
The tweet was later deleted, but the internet never forgets. The feedback was immediate: social media condemned the company for using the actress's death to advertise its cinnamon rolls. They apologized, saying that it was a tribute of respect and they were really sorry.
2. With fruit
Here, as you might guess, fresh fillings are used fruits, although they can be replaced with frozen or even candied fruit. The main thing is to chop everything finely. The shape of the rolls will suffer slightly, but the taste will remain incredible.
Interesting fact: To create the perfect cinnamon bun recipe, Rich Comen (CEO) called Jerylin Bruceau, the chef and owner of a restaurant near Seattle. She was already known for her cinnamon rolls prepared according to the recipe passed on to her from her grandmother. It is said that over 200 different recipes were tested before they settled on the one that made them famous.
1. Classic
IN classic version cane sugar and cinnamon are used as the filling. About 150 g of sugar is mixed with 1-2 teaspoons of cinnamon, after which the rolled dough is generously sprinkled with the resulting mixture.
Interesting fact: it is believed that when you try to copy Cinnabon buns at home with the usual ingredients, you will fail. Why? Because they use a super special grade of cinnamon.
The process of developing their recipes included comprehensive testing of almost every type of cinnamon (and there are many).
Finally, they settled on a very specific type of cinnamon grown only in the highest points of a particular region in Indonesia. In this area, called Korinji, they produce a particularly strong variety of cinnamon, which Cinnabon turned into a proprietary blend called Makara.
